Solar Panels Help Greater Columbus Improve Public Health

Did you know Franklin County (and the majority of Ohio counties where data was collected) received an “F” in the American Lung Assoication’s 2016 State of the Air Report? The “F” is for our ozone pollution, which the association calculates by assigning increasing weights to the days when air pollution levels reach the higher ranges. They then add those days together and calculate the weighted average and assign grades based on that weighted average.

Of course this is a huge problem, as ozone, or smog, is associated with all sorts of health problems like asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart disease, reproductive harm and even premature death. Worse yet, air pollution has no boundaries and carries on to our neighbors, causing great harm to much of our nation…and the other living beings with whom we share this planet.

In Ohio, where the majority of our electricity is generated by coal, using less energy in our homes and/or businesses is a great way to help improve public health.

By reducing energy use and going solar, Central Ohioans can help improve air quality, curb greenhouse gas emissions, encourage energy independence and save money! Check out the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s easy tips for conserving energy at home.

The majority of our solar customers are concerned about the environment and choose to install solar panels as a way to lighten their carbon footprint. This is indeed one of the main reasons Ecohouse Solar was founded and continues to provide local, friendly, high quality and full-service solar installations. An equally important reason to go solar is its ability to improve public health. Certainly one might argue improving public health is akin to improving the environment, and with that we won’t argue. We like it when everybody wins!

Please fill out the form on our home page or call (614) 456-7641 to have one of our talented, passionate sales representatives give you a free estimate. We’d love to install some solar for you and play a part in improving our community’s health.
